AGRICULTURAL  TRAINING  INSTITUTE KAROR  DISTRICT  LAYYAH

 

BACK GROUND:

• Punjab Province is characterized by different ecological zones. Previously three Agricultural Training Institutes were working under the Extension Wing of Agriculture Department in the Punjab to cater the requirement of frontline extension workers whereas this training was also being provided by the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, PMAS Arid University Rawalpindi, Khushab Campus and Pak-German Institute for cooperative Agriculture Chak   5-Faiz, Multan.

• The above institutes were producing insufficient frontline extension workers belonging to the district Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar and Mianwali, as these districts are far away from Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha and Rawalpindi Institute cities. The students of these districts were facing difficulties to get education at Rahim Yar Khan and Sargodha. To over-come this deficiency, Government of the Punjab Agriculture Department felt the need to launch another Agricultural Training Institute during the year, 2011 at Karor Lal Eason, District Layyah.

OBJECTIVES:

1. To produce front line workers (Field Assistants) by conducting 3 Year’s “Diploma in Agricultural Sciences" (DAS) course for the matriculates with Science subjects admitted out of the districts of Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Mianwali, Bhakkar and D.G.Khan.

2. To enhance teaching expertise through conducting on-campus trainings of faculty staff.

• Area under Buildings, Roads and Play Grounds         = 15.5 Acre

• Area under Student's Demonstration Farm                  = 14.5 Acre

• Cropped Area                                                               =13.25 Acre
